Healing In Depth

Life involves challenges and triumphs, injuries and healing.  Wherever we happen to be on life’s journey, we feel most alive and engaged when we respect and explore the depth of what we feel, think and sense.   From this attitude springs compassion for ourselves, and from this compassion springs the answers and strength that we seek – within ourselves.

About Us

Cross & Magill Psychological is a private psychology practice shared by Dan Cross and Andrea Magill.  We have each been in private practice for about 20 years.  Our work with clients is rooted in a deep respect and care for people, and the vulnerability and courage that it takes to face one’s challenges, confusion and pain.

We believe:

  • All meaning and behaviour is best understood by taking into account the context in which it occurs.
  • Meaningful and lasting change begins with recognizing that wisdom lies within the individual, and within his or her relationships and family.
  • We all have resources and strengths.  Recognizing and cultivating them is an important part of working through difficulties.
  • Change involves both clarity and confusion, progress and setbacks, and both have their own value and place.

Our Services

Counselling

We offer counselling for individuals, couples and families.  Counselling is a collaborative relationship in which the psychologist brings his or her expertise in the discipline of psychotherapy together with the client’s expertise on his or her own experiences, relationships and life.  This joint effort aims to bring expanded consciousness to life, transform difficulties into wisdom and growth, and help heal and mature relationships with others and with the self.

We also offer reduced-fee counselling with Provisional Psychologists, professionals who have completed their formal schooling, and are now practising under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist.

Our Team

Dan Cross, MSc

Registered Psychologist

Dan is a Registered Psychologist (MSc, Loma Linda University) and Jungian Psychoanalyst (Diplomat, CG Jung Institute Zürich). He enjoys working with individuals, couples, and families to collaboratively bring forth the strengths and direction they may have lost sight of, or have yet to discover. Dan works with stress, anxiety, panic, depression, addictions, loss of self/identity, childhood/current abuse and trauma, as well as couple difficulties, parent-child conflict, and extended family issues. He is trained in Jungian Sandplay Therapy as well as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for the treatment of trauma, and has a special interest in working with the deep, hard-to-explain challenges that we experience as patterns in our lives and relationships.

Andréa Magill, M Ed

Registered Psychologist

Andréa is a Registered Psychologist and a certified teacher. She has extensive training and experience in Hakomi Psychotherapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for the treatment of Trauma, and Jungian Sandplay Therapy, all which enable her to work with clients’ challenges in in-depth ways allowing for growth and sustained change. Andréa specializes in her work with anxiety, depression, trauma, attachment and grief, helping clients have new experiences in the areas in which they feel stuck, despite their efforts to change. By first helping clients identify limiting belief systems and habitual ways of organizing in the world, they can then begin to live more consciously, thereby allowing them to begin to experiment with new ways of seeing themselves and others, as well as identify new possibilities for how they show up in their lives. Andréa has also been trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy, from which she draws to help couples and families identify negative interactional patterns in order to develop more expansive, satisfying relationships.

Andréa works in both English and French.
